Bio SoCal Helps After Tragic Scene Involving Oxnard Police Officer

February 21, 2020 By Alan Cohen

Though all the work we do for our community can be tough for a variety of reasons, some tasks are far more difficult than others. Two weeks ago on January 29th, our team of biohazard cleanup professionals from Bio SoCal were on scene to help the Oxnard Police Department and local community begin to heal after a tragic accident.

On Wednesday afternoon, Officer Nathan Martin left work as the resource officer at Hueneme High School then stopped by the station before riding east on Third Street toward home on his personal motorcycle when a tractor trailer turned left in front of him and collided with his motorcycle. Despite being taken to a hospital for extraordinary lifesaving measures, Officer Martin tragically passed away an hour after the accident occurred. Many of the first responders who arrived at the scene were Nathan’s friends and coworkers. It is a loss felt deeply by the Oxnard community.

A 20-year veteran of the Oxnard Police Department, Martin dedicated his life to protecting and serving those in his community and being a shoulder to lean on for all the students he spent his days with at the high school. In addition to the grieving faculty, students, and police department, he leaves behind his wife Marita and three children along with his mother and a brother who served on the police force alongside him.

As part of our work responding to wherever biohazard cleanup is needed in our community, Bio SoCal regularly works with the Oxnard Police Department as well as other local first responders. Thus, our team at Bio SoCal are deeply grieved at the loss as well.
In the midst of this deeply tragic situation, we at Bio SoCal were honored to be called to help clean up the aftermath. As biohazard cleanup professionals, we did what we do best and cleaned up the area after the accident so the community and people Officer Martin dedicated his life to protecting remain safe.

Bio SoCal is always here for our friends and neighbors in Oxnard no matter the situation. Amid the dark hours, we strive to serve the community by cleaning up after accidents, crime, hoarding situations, and wherever biohazards need to be safely removed and disposed of. Available 24-7, we are always on call.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Officer Martin and the Oxnard Police Department.

Rancho Mirage, CA

It is always tragic when an accident takes a life. On Halloween, a car collided with a motorcycle in Rancho Mirage on East Palm Canyon Drive between South Camino Real and Deepwell Road. While the driver of the car survived the accident, the motorcyclist was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center where he died hours later.

Once the police completed their investigation and released the scene, Bio SoCal was there to clean and decontaminate the area so the street could reopen as quickly as possible. In the middle of a neighborhood, we worked quickly to clean and decontaminate the area so everyone traveling on the road could be safe.

Much of our work involves making sure the small hazardous particles you may not be able to see are cleaned up and the area undergoes thorough decontamination. Without this attention to detail and legal disposal of affected materials, you and your family’s health can be at risk. For example, at the accident in Rancho Mirage, we thoroughly cleaned all bodily fluids and debris from the roadway then decontaminated the area so no further tragedies resulted from the accident. We know our neighbors in Coachella Valley depend on us to keep their roads safe after tragedies such as this and we always work quickly to make sure the area is restored.
