Man Found Dead Inside a Building in Carson, CA

Bio SoCal was recently called upon to help a business in Carson, California for blood cleanup after a man was found dead inside a Carson building.

The most important thing we can do as a company is to mitigate emotional and physical trauma for businesses and property owners throughout Southern California. Here in Carson, the victim was found when a fellow co-worker came in the next morning and found the 49-year-old Asian man lying on the floor. Finding someone who has passed away, especially from trauma, is already emotionally difficult. Nightmares and PTSD can be common experiences in these cases. Having someone untrained in biohazard cleanup cleaning up all the blood and body fluids can be even more traumatic with longer lasting emotional and physical trauma. In addition, not hiring a company with the proper licenses and certifications can leave you open to fines and legal liability.

Bio SoCal is here to mitigate trauma for business owners

In Carson, we were there to help the business owner by taking over the scene as soon as the police completed their investigation so we could restore the property. We began at once by donning personal protective equipment, sealing off the affected area, and then cleaning up and decontaminating all surfaces so staff could begin to properly grieve and safely return to the office when they are ready.

According to reports, investigators don’t yet know what happened, whether the man passed away due to an accident or homicide but the tragedy is currently being investigated as a homicide. With blunt force traumatic injuries to his head and body, he was found dead with nothing taken and his personal belongings found nearby.

At Bio SoCal, we understand how important it is to make sure all employees are working in a clean and safe environment. Don’t put your employees in harm’s way through improper cleanup. Blood and other harmful materials can work their way downward into unseen layers, leaving behind microscopic viruses and bacteria. Only after working through all affected layers, making sure all blood and bodily fluids, both seen and unseen, are removed, do we release the property back to the owners fully confident you can occupy the space with peace of mind.

Our community at Bio SoCal extends our deepest condolences to this man’s family, friends, and co-workers.

We’re here to serve 24/7

Around 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th, a person called the authorities to report a man who “didn’t look well” lying on a sidewalk in a residential neighborhood in South Oxnard. When the Oxnard Police Department responded to the call, they found the man lying unconscious and suffering from a shot to the head. He was promptly taken to a regional trauma center at a hospital in critical condition. It is unknown to Bio SoCal how the man is currently doing.

With bloodborne pathogens, viruses, bacteria, drugs, and other chemicals contaminating the environment after a crime has been committed, people can easily become infected and sick if they are not meticulously cleaned up. Whoever owns the property is then held legally liable for all damages.

With most property insurance covering the cost of professional crime scene cleanup after a crime has been committed in Oxnard, it is easy to make sure all biohazards have been fully removed. Once you call us and answer some basic questions, we’ll send a team out to your property to remove all the hazards, clean, sanitize, and disinfect all surfaces using the latest cleaning technology. Just 15 minutes before the call to report the victim, police officers responded to sounds of gunfire in the neighborhood to the south of where the victim was found. It is not yet known whether the two incidents are connected.
Police are asking for anyone with knowledge of the shooting on Thursday to contract the Violent Crimes Unit of the Oxnard Police Department at 805-486-6211. Any people with tips can remain anonymous if they choose to do so. You can also call the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

We hope the injured man makes a full recovery.

Can You Use Bleach to Clean Up Blood?

July 31, 2018 By Alan Cohen

FacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmailFacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Bleach to Clean Up Blood

Cleaning up a blood spill goes far beyond the surface and what can bee seen and is not about the stain as if it were coffee but rather the risk of infection now and in the future.  Often times when there is a situation causing a blood  spill our immediate reaction is to clean it up for aesthetics and to prevent stains.. Cleaning up after a death of accident with significant blood spill involves far more than making sure the stain is gone from the surface it landed on. Even your own blood has far more bacteria, viruses, and potentially dangerous diseases than you realize, let alone the blood of another person whose medical history in unknown. In fact, a surface can look completely clean but still harbor immense amounts of dangerous spores and contaminates which can harm you and those you care for if not properly cleaned and decontaminated with the appropriate solutions.

Bleach: Virus & Bacteria

Though bleach has long been thought of as the best solution to sanitize a variety of surfaces, it does not, in fact, clean everything and often leaves begins a residue from the contaminated that can be dangerous. There are even several types of infectious disease, virus and bacteria that can survive a bleach solution, especially when the surface is porous or not smooth which can harbor bacteria that may reemerge at a later date and infect others.

Dangers of Bleach

Bleach

Bleach is extremely corrosive to numerous materials such as wood, wool, fabric, and leather, among many others. The solution may kill much of the bacteria but it will severely damage the carpet and furniture you put it on, sometimes making an object or material unusable. In fact there are no decontaminates certified by any government agency that can kill biohazard contaminates on fabric.

When bleach is used in a professional setting, all people in the area are required to use gloves and a face mask in a well-ventilated area. If a person isn’t protected, bleach will irritate the eyes, throat, lungs, and skin. It can be even more damaging when mixed with other cleaners. Though the substance is sold in numerous stores, it’s not safe to use without the proper protection and is harmful to the environment when we put it out in the air or down the drains. Bio SoCal uses EPA registered chemicals that are plant based and safe for people and pets, which not only clean but decontaminate a level above what bleach and an untrained cleaner can accomplish.

Bleach Has to be Properly Applied

There are several types of bleach which can truly clean blood and all the ensuing bacteria and diseases from a surface. However, even if you have the correct type, the bleach has to be mixed with the correct amount of water, properly applied to whatever surface you’re cleaning, and left on the surface for the right amount of time in order to kill all organic matter. Don’t leave it to chance because you will not know if you completely cleaned and decontaminated the affected surfaces.

Call a Biohazard Cleanup Company for Quality Blood Removal

If you are trying to clean up blood from a surface, it is best to call a biohazard cleanup company to clean and decontaminate the area affected by the blood. Bio SoCal uses products that will kill bloodborne pathogens without damaging surfaces of your furniture or floor.  A professionally trained cleanup crew will know exactly what solutions to use for various types of surfaces and how to apply them for maximum effectiveness. They will then properly disposed of all biohazards to ensure your safety and the safety of those who will come into contact with the area for years to come. With a professional blood clean up company, you can rest assured that all dangers have been removed and the area is truly clean.
